THE bananasH oats and the yogurt appear to be associated with a higher risk of developing diabetes in predisposed childrenas a study cited by the British newspaper The Guardian points out.
Children predisposed to developing type 1 diabetes and who consume bananas, oats and yogurt are more likely to develop the disease, while those who eat strawberries, blueberries and some green vegetables (broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower) are less at risk, the same survey found.
The professor who conducted the study said this the fact that some fruits contain traces of pesticides It may also explain why some of them increase while others decrease the risk of type 1 diabetes.
Of these, 94 showed up type 1 diabetes at age six and another 206 autoimmune pancreatic islet cell cancer, meaning they were at increased risk of the disease.
The results, however, confuse parents because, as Virtanen adds, “Many of the foods we found associated with increased risk of type 1 diabetes and the disease process are considered part of a healthy diet.».
However, on the contrary, strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, gooseberries and other types of berries appear to have protective properties since the more the children involved in the study ate, the lower their risk of disease.
As he points out, however, it is too early to make dietary recommendations for infants and young children based on the results of this study.
