Buycycle, which examined over 100 bike-friendly destinations around the world, analyzed their winter weather data to draw up a ranking of the best destinations for a cycling holiday during the winter. The analysis took three main parameters into consideration: hours of sunshine, average temperatures and rainfall, excluding destinations that were too hot (over 25°C) or without reliable data.

Canary Islands, Spain
With an average winter temperature of 19.2°C, the Canary Islands are a paradise for cyclists. TenerifeGran Canaria and Lanzarote offer routes that pass through volcanic landscapes, lush forests and ocean-washed coasts. A mild climate all year round and a variety of itineraries make this archipelago perfect for every level and cycling discipline.

East Saguaro National Park. The short, 8-mile loop within the renowned Saguaro National Park East is arguably one of the most beautiful places to bike in Arizona. With minimal elevation gain, buttery smooth asphalt and spectacular views, this route is a must for any cyclist in Tucson. With the exception of a fairly long but gradual climb, it is easily passable even by those who are not particularly fit.
Costa Almeria, Spain
The Costa AlmerÃa, with an average winter temperature of 13.5°C, is another popular Spanish cycling destination. Here you can explore desert trails, coastal roads and mountainous terrain like those of the Sierra de Alhamilla and the Sierra de los Filabres. A variety of routes that combine technical challenges and natural beauty.
Coastal circular tour Carboneras-Agua Amarga. In addition to the famous climbs of Velefique and Calar Alto, the AlmerÃa area offers a wide variety of cycling routes. A particularly suggestive itinerary is the one that winds along the coast of the Cabo de Gata-NÃjar Natural Park. This route, ideal for starting to explore the region, combines flat sections along the coast with climbs that offer splendid views of the Mediterranean. After crossing picturesque villages such as Agua Amargayou enter the hinterland, characterized by a semi-desert landscape. Levada da Serra XC mountain bike excursion. This very popular tour starts from Abrigo do Pastor (1150 m altitude) and, after a few minutes, the main climb inside the Montado do Pereiro Forest Parkfor about 5 km with a difference in altitude of 250 metres. Subsequently, and depending on personal abilities, you can tackle some easy single trails before reaching the “levada” (water canal).
From here (850 m above sea level) we continue with a relaxing 20 km route, immersed in a magnificent setting of laurel, eucalyptus and pine trees. Near the village of Camacha we stop for a break, and then start the final descent of about 10 km on an asphalt road, requiring only the use of brakes, always with a spectacular view of the ocean.
Cyprus
With an average winter temperature of 14.4°C, Cyprus allows you to cycle in winter along coasts bathed by crystal clear waters. From picturesque streets to the Troodos Mountains, this Mediterranean island offers a mix of fun and picturesque views that they make every type of cyclist happy.
Cycle route from Paphos to Pissouri Bay passing Aphrodite’s Rock. This relatively short and easy 72 km cycling route winds south-east along the B6, a road in excellent condition. The route runs along the coast, passing the international airport, then reaching Aphrodite’s Rock and then the village of Pissouri. From here, the road descends towards Pissouri baywhere there is usually a stop, to then go up along a different and more scenic road before returning to Paphos on the same B6.

Mallorca is a classic timeless with its winter 13.3°C, while the Gold Coastat 11.1°C, it offers technical and varied itineraries. Finally, the Sardiniawith an average temperature of 12.1°C, it enchants with its Mediterranean landscapes and unique atmosphere. In short, there’s really no need to put your bike on hold during the winter.
