This winter, go to France and its mountains

Going on holiday in France and in winter, a good idea that is becoming more and more popular. Because France still has the possibility of being a very complete country where sea, countryside and mountains are just waiting to be discovered according to desires and seasons. And the mountains in winter, whether you are a skier or not, have everything to offer us. Truly something for everyone.

More than one in four French people go to the mountains this winter

That’s all, the snow is starting to fall at high altitude and the first ski facilities for the new season have just opened. A season that a priori should prove promising for everyone. Because for this winter of 2024-2025, according to various surveys, it is estimated that more than a quarter of the population would consider going to the mountains, for skiing or not, in the coming months. Exactly 27% of French people, i.e. 1% more than last year, with, as always, young people, families and, logically, CSP+ among the most interested.

As in previous years, the most frequently scheduled length of stay corresponds to the “week” (36%) or slightly less (43%), especially at Christmas and during the upcoming winter holidays of February-March when snow conditions at the resorts they might seem the best.

Likewise, if people are looking for slightly higher snow resorts, many of them now also prefer the “more family-friendly”, human-scale ones, located mainly in France. And as always we rent our equipment to nine out of ten people. This allows you to better manage your stay and the activities you intend to carry out, from alpine skiing to snowboarding and snowshoeing.

Last point noted in these surveys: the desire of an ever-increasing percentage of holidaymakers to opt for resorts and places with an eco-friendly reputation and committed to responsible and sustainable approaches. These choices are also confirmed when we see the share of ski mountaineering and snowshoeing in the activities that holidaymakers would like to practice; a clear increase compared to downhill skiing considered “more expensive and polluting” by more and more people…
